Postpartum Depression & Anxiety
-
Becoming a parent should be one of life's most joyful experiences — but for many women, it's also one of the most vulnerable. Postpartum depression and anxiety are more common than most people realize, and they are not a reflection of your love for your baby or your strength as a mother.
At Coral Psychiatry, we specializes in perinatal mental health — the mental health of women during and after pregnancy. We provides compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric treatment that is safe for breastfeeding and tailored to where you are in your postpartum journey.

Postpartum depression (PPD) affects up to 1 in 5 new mothers and can appear anytime in the first year after delivery. Symptoms include persistent sadness, difficulty bonding with your baby, withdrawing from loved ones, loss of interest in daily life, and intrusive thoughts. Postpartum anxiety is equally common — it can look like constant worry about your baby, inability to sleep even when the baby sleeps, racing thoughts, and a persistent sense that something bad is about to happen.

Coral Psychiatry offers telehealth psychiatric care including medication management (with medications safe during breastfeeding), integrative support, and close coordination with your OB/GYN, midwife, or therapist. She brings a culturally affirming approach with particular expertise in supporting Black women and women of color, who are disproportionately affected by postpartum mood disorders.
